Jon Snow
The fans of the Game of Thrones franchise are celebrating as HBO has already begun development of a Jon Snow spinoff series. Currently in its early stages, the series will follow the character of Jon Snow after the events of the much-maligned series’ eighth season. It will feature Kit Harington’s beloved character. The show’s seventh season concluded with the revelation that Jon Snow was actually the illegitimate son of Aegon Targaryen. He returned to the snowy plains north of the Wall, where he rejoined his old Wildling friends.
A Jon Snow spinoff is only one of many Game of Thrones projects in development. HBO has seven such projects. The prequels to the House Targaryen character are titled 10,000 Ships, 9 Voyages, and House of the Dragon. One more prequel titled Dunk and Egg is in development. Fans are eager to see what happens next. Until HBO makes an official announcement, no one can be sure what the plot will be about.
The Game of Thrones series ended with a divisive finale, but the show’s producers are ready to return to Westeros. The death of Jon Snow left fans feeling bereft. The Valyrians lived in a golden age of civilization, but the apocalypse destroyed it all. The Game of Thrones sequel will explore the history of the Valyrian Freehold and how it came to be.
The Valyrian steel used in Game of Thrones is one of the major remains of the Valyrian period. It is incredibly sharp, rarely needs maintenance, and has a unique dark color running through the blade. Over 200 Valyrian steel weapons are found in Westeros, most of which serve as family heirlooms. A few of these swords, however, are used by the surviving characters.
A Game of Thrones sequel is not a certainty, but it is possible. A number of sources have speculated about the possibility of an untitled “Game of Thrones” prequel. It is possible that the series will be called Empire of Ashes or “Doom of Valyria,” though HBO has not confirmed the existence of a series centered around this era. Bloodmoon
HBO has announced a prequel series to Game of Thrones called Bloodmoon. The series will follow the Targaryen kings 300 years before the events of GOT. As a result, Bloodmoon was used as the working title of the episode. However, Martin has not commented on the speculation about the series’ title. In the books, Old Nan mentioned the Long Night, but didn’t discuss the event.
In a previous Game of Thrones spinoff, HBO scrapped the idea. It had spent $30 million to make the pilot of Tinderbox, starring Naomi Watts. Unfortunately, the series didn’t get picked up, either. But it was a great start for an unreliable TV series. Nevertheless, HBO’s decision to scrap the project wasn’t surprising. It seems the show’s creators were worried about the cost and tonal contrast, but they opted against it anyway.
HBO has also announced the prequel series’ working title: Bloodmoon. The show will focus on the Targaryen family, thousands of years before the White Walkers invaded Westeros. The series is set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which has long been a production hub for Game of Thrones. The premiere date of the prequel series has yet to be set, so it will be interesting to see if HBO pulls it off.
The Tales of Dunk and Egg
HBO has entrusted acclaimed writer Steve Conrad to write the show, and he will also serve as executive producer. The prequel will be set 90 years before the events of Game of Thrones, and will follow the adventures of young Aegon Targaryen, Ser Duncan the Tall, and their companion, Egg. Martin has written three novellas for the series, which have been adapted for television.
The prequel will feature Naomi Watts, who starred in the HBO series “House of the Dragon.” While HBO may decide to relaunch the show, the writers of the novel are already in place.
