Ban’s pig side can’t recall why he chose to always stay with Hawk, but the human half (which is very small) believes it’s because when Ban was a human, he had someone who taught him things like never giving up and protecting your friends and family, among other things. So that’s why Ban feels he owes something to Hawk for teaching him all that stuff all those years ago.

Why does ban call hawk Master?
Ban refers to Hawk as Master for a variety of reasons:
The first is straightforward. Ban makes jokes out of everything, so it’s safe to assume he was joking when he dubbed Hawk Knight/Master/Scrap Disposal or whatever other strange moniker he came up with.
Second, when Ban is chatting with Hawk privately, this is the only method to attract his attention (Hey! Is it possible for you to let go? Okay, fine.) If you watch the part in episode 7 where they slip past the guards and Ban says “So that noise back there…”, you’ll get a sense of what I’m talking about. Because of the distance and volume of the talk, you can tell that if they speak normally, no one will be able to hear them.
If you notice them approaching each other and Ban says, “Hey… why’d you stop?” Hawk had his back to Ban, thus part of the reason he gave him a strange title was to catch his attention in a scenario when a typical dialogue wouldn’t work.
Third, according to what we’ve heard, this level of formality is prevalent among certain groups in general, but it doesn’t sound natural or appropriate coming from Ban. In the company of the other Sins, he isn’t exactly polite or respectful. In summary, if it were said by someone else, it could be OK because others would expect them to speak in that manner, but it seems strange coming from Ban because he doesn’t generally do so.
The mystery of Why does Ban call Hawk Master can now be easily answered:
First, if you look at where their relationship progresses throughout the novel, you’ll notice that they have very little respect for each other. They collaborate more for the sake of mutual advantage and convenience than because they like or care about each other. Why does ban call hawk Master? Why would he refer to him as his master if he doesn’t act like one? It makes no sense to anyone except those who know why, which is why it’s amusing when others question why he always refers to him as Master or why Ban refers to Hawk as Master or anything.
Second, Why does ban call hawk Master? It’s possible that he does it for the same reasons that Hawk calls him Master: it’s convenient, and they don’t care about each other in a positive sense, so why not?
So, why do Hawk and Ban behave in this manner when they’re around each other?
There is some ambiguity in the response. We do know, though, that they met in the past, when Hawk was still a Death Scythe (and hadn’t yet been expelled from the order). They journeyed together for a while after he failed to kill Ban, until Ban chose to embark on his own journey. Although their friendship has degraded into something more akin to mutual convenience than true friendship since then, neither has attempted to kill the other.
One hypothesis is that people do it for a variety of reasons, but that they do it for the sake of working together rather than because they want to.
Another hypothesis is that Ban keeps calling him Master to get Hawk’s attention, and then they agree to behave as if they respect each other more than they do. Ban has shown himself to be prepared to work with just about anyone if it will help him achieve his goal (and he knows his life isn’t on the line), so why not join in the fun? Hawk doesn’t appear to be the type of person who cares about hurting other people’s feelings in general, so why should he worry about Ban’s actions in particular?
In episode 8, Hawk remarks, “You’ve got some nerve, showing up in a place like this,” to which Ban responds, “Since when did you become the master?” This provides another clue as to why Hawk acts this way toward Ban.
It’s unclear why he calls Hawk Master, but Why does ban call hawk Master?? It’s most likely because they utilized that title for each other to get on each other’s good side at one point. Furthermore, Hawk’s statement may be more out of convenience than respect, whilst Ban’s statement is likely to have less to do with mutual respect and more to do with why they chose it in the first place.
