There are many different ways to find out how much a magic item costs in D&D. While the DMG lists them alongside other magic items, the Systems Reference Document also has a section devoted to potions. The Basic Rules pdf even has a page devoted to potions, on page 169. Typically, magic items are priced according to their rarity. Common items cost 50-100 gold pieces, while rare and legendary items are worth 5,000 or more.
The cost of an elixir of health varies from one player to another. While the Player’s Handbook lists a standard price for 50 gp, the greater and supreme versions can be more expensive. In any case, a potion’s effect is immediate once the drinker drinks it. However, there are some exceptions, like drinking a potion while unconscious.

Then, you can multiply the number by 10 to get the corresponding amount of HP. You can then mix up a batch of healing potions to restore HP. For example, if you’re level 1 and have a +1 spell, you can make an enchanted elixir of healing for 50 gp. This elixir also raises the user’s AC to 17, and thus helps protect them from cold damage.
The price of an Elixir of Health varies with the rarity of the potion. Healing potions provide 2d4+2 hit points. The more potent potions grant 8d4+8 hit points. A level six-8 scroll would cost 12500gp at 1/4 price, which seems reasonable. Level 7 scrolls cost 13500gp, 1450gp, and 1550gp respectively.
CRs and costs for consumable magic items are defined in the DMG, pg. 135. This means that the Elixir of Health should cost only half the cost of permanent magic items. That means that the price of the Elixir of Health would be about 50 gp instead of 100 gp, which would take just 2 days to make.
A hundred-gp bottle of the potion has a base price of 40,000 gp, making it a Rare Magic Item that costs more than a gold piece. An Animated Shield costs twice as much as it costs to craft. The cost of the Animated Shield can be paid to a priest, although wealthy adventurers may be able to offer a higher price.

In addition to the cost of the potions, PCs can make their own potions at home, by spending half their cost in materials.
